Barley Wet Fiber

Pannonia BWF

Pannonia Bio Zrt.'s new barley processing plant is truly unique in Europe. The Dunaföldvár based company is the first in the world to successfully apply this revolutionary technology on industrial scale, which has allowed them to expand their portfolio with a range of essential – barley-based – animal feed products.

Thanks to the production technology, Pannonia BWF is characterized by increased digestible fiber content, longer shelf life, and virtually negligible toxin risk. This makes it an excellent choice for cattle and pig farms' feed formulas due to its favorable price-to-value ratio. Fermentation makes it more easily digestible, and it has a high NDF (Neutral Detergent Fiber) content. It is available year-round, with consistent quality, delivered in bulk via truck.

Recommended use

Due to its high fiber content, the product can be an excellent supplementary nutrient source for ruminants (dairy and beef cattle) as well as pigs (sows and fattening pigs).

Benefits

  • Exceptionally high barley-based fiber source
  • Rich in vitamins and minerals
  • Improves and regulates feed utilization
  • Negligible toxin risk
  • High shelf life & faster digestibility due to the production technology
  • High NDF content
  • Neutral taste, easy to mix
  • Guaranteed GMO- and antibiotic-free

Production

  • Harvesting: The processed barley is grown on local farms in strict compliance with European sustainability criteria.
  • Testing: All shipments of barley are inspected and tested before storage.
  • Storage: The unloaded barley undergoes a pre-cleaning process: the barley grains are cleaned of awn and other impurities.
  • Cleaning & Grinding: The barley grain is separated from the husk and then milled in three stages. Husk, fiber and bran are collected separately and sold as Barley Husk for animal feed after further processing.
  • Cooking: The starch content of the barley is converted into sugars at high temperatures using water and amylase enzymes. The sugars are later converted into ethanol.
  • Separation: Centrifuges are used to separate the glucose-rich wet fraction from the protein-rich dry fraction, and to separate the barley fiber, which is sold for animal feed under the Pannonia BWF brand.
  • Transportation: Barley Wet Fiber is sold in bulk by truck.
