Built on a more than 40 ha site located on the west bank of the Danube River, the refinery processes 1.1 million tons of corn annually, utilizing state-of-the-art production facilities to manufacture bioproducts.
Innovation at Pannonia Bio is continuous, with annual gains of over 10% in energy efficiency, yields and volumes. These improvements make the operation ever more secure for long term success and development in the region. Ongoing investment in procurement, production, research, efficiencies, technology and innovation increases the value of the products leaving the biorefinery.
Pannonia Bio recruits top scientists, chemical engineers and industry specialists ensuring excellence in all aspects of production. The plant runs 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
No antibiotics are used in any stage, with potential infections controlled by alternative means which do not impact the food chain. The plant location incorporates a port with barge access to the Danube, road and rail facilities for distribution of products across Europe and further afield. An experienced logistics team manages an efficient freight network distributing to over 27 countries. Facilities include shipping bays for year-round low-cost barge transportation, truck loading bays and a dedicated rail terminal.
The process employs a zero effluent design and produces no solid or liquid wastes. All process contact waters are fully recycled and reused.
