Biomethane: powering a greener world

In the race for sustainable energy, biomethane takes centre stage as a key player in achieving a net-zero global economy. Produced within Pannonia Bio’s advanced biorefinery, it unlocks the full potential of grain-derived fibre to deliver nearly 100% pure renewable natural gas. This cleaner, smarter energy source reduces emissions while powering homes, businesses and transportation – paving the way for a more resilient and sustainable future.

Fueling a circular economy with clean biomethane

Pannonia Bio stands as Eastern Europe’s largest biogas facility, leading the way in efficient and sustainable energy production. Every year, over a million tonnes of locally sourced corn and barley fuel a closed-loop system that transforms every component of the grain into valuable outputs. This includes high-quality animal feed, food-grade products and nearly 100% pure biomethane – all achieved with zero wastewater emissions, maximum resource efficiency and minimal environmental impact.

Pannonia Bio Gas - Slovenia

In Slovenia, Pannonia Bio Gas operates the country’s largest biogas facility, with sites in Vučja Vas and Dobrovnik, producing renewable energy from agricultural residues and biodegradable waste. This biomass is converted into biogas, then transformed into heat, electricity, and advanced biomethane. This model supports decarbonisation, reduces dependence on fossil fuels, and strengthens local energy security, while creating value from regional agriculture. As a wholly owned subsidiary of Pannonia Bio Zrt., Pannonia Bio Gas extends the group’s circular biorefinery model beyond Hungary, with its Slovenian operations forming an integral part of Pannonia Bio’s renewable energy platform.

Pannonia Green - Serbia

In Serbia, Pannonia Green operates three biogas plants located in Tomaševac, Hajdučica and Plandište, converting agricultural residues into renewable electricity. By turning local biomass into energy, these facilities reduce waste, lower emissions and support more resilient, locally driven energy systems. Pannonia Green is the newest addition to the group, further strengthening its ability to generate green energy from renewable biomass.
